Soldiers Helping Soldiers

The Association of Military Banks of America (AMBA) presented Army Emergency Relief (AER) a check for $15,000 during a short ceremony at AER Headquarters in Alexandria, Va.

The check was presented to retired Army Lt. Gen. Robert F. Foley, AER’s director (left), by retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Steven J. Lepper, president and CEO of AMBA.

AER is a private nonprofit organization incorporated in 1942 by the Secretary of War and the Army Chief of Staff with the sole mission of helping soldiers and their dependents. AER is the Army's own emergency financial assistance organization and is dedicated to "Helping the Army Take Care of Its Own".

AMBA is a not-for- profit association of banks operating on military installations and banks not located on military installations but serving military customers. Founded in 1959, the association’s membership includes both community banks and large multinational financial institutions, all of which are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. For over fifty years, AMBA has been instrumental in helping its members serve the financial needs of military personnel and their families.
