AER provides loans that are always free from interest and fees to Service Members and immediate family members in need of financial assistance. Repayment of loans is vital to ensure that AER can continue to provide assistance to the community it serves.
AER is the Army's own emergency financial assistance organization and is dedicated to "Helping the Army Take Care of its Own." AER financial assistance is conducted within the Army structure by mission commanders and garrison commanders through the 81 AER Sections located at U.S. Army installations worldwide.
AER respects the privacy concerns of those we serve and our supporters. Except where disclosure is required by law, we do not share, sell, or trade the personally identifiable information from our donors or scholarship/financial assistance applicants.

                                                              AER's Change in Leadership

After 11 years of dedicated service to Army Emergency Relief, our Director, LTG (R) Robert F. Foley, has decided to retire. During his tenure, LTG (R) Foley opened many new assistance categories and programs helping over 690,000 Soldiers with over $810M in financial assistance.  His passion to help those in need has truly been an inspiration to us all.   Best wishes to LTG (R) Foley and his family.

LTG (R) Raymond Mason has been selected as the new AER Director effective January 1, 2017.   LTG (R) Mason comes to AER from Vision Technologies Systems (VTS) where he was the Chief Operating Officer. He is a highly regarded logistician with executive leadership experience in both commercial and military organizations.  LTG (R) Mason retired from Active Duty after 35 years of service. His last duty assignment was the Army G-4 where he was responsible for sustaining the Army world-wide. LTG Mason has a Master’s of Science Degree in National Resourcing from National Defense University, and in Contracting & Acquisition Management from Florida Institute of Technology. His Bachelor’s degree is in Business (Marketing & Economics) from James Madison University.  Join us in welcoming LTG Mason to the AER family!
