Overseas Spouse Education Assistance Program (OSEAP)

WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR TERM 2 OF ACADEMIC YEAR (AY) 2010-2011.  THE DEADLINE DATE FOR TERM 2 IS SEPTEMBER 20, 2010.  ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE RECEIVED POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN THIS DATE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR TERM 2.

AER Overseas Spouse Education Assistance Program (OSEAP) is for spouses of active duty Soldier’s assigned and living in Overseas Commands only (Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico are not accepted for OSEAP).  The spouse must also reside with the Soldier at the assigned command.  “Active Duty” military personnel are not eligible.  This scholarship is for first undergraduate degrees only.  Assistance is not for any type of graduate degree level courses. 

Attention students:  New students must submit a complete application form prior to the term deadline.  Returning students need to only complete a renewal form prior to the term deadline.  The term deadlines are in the “Program Description”.

You also have the option of emailing your supporting documents.  If you should choose this option, all documents must be scanned in a PDF (Portable Document Format) file, and MUST be legible.  Any parts cut off due to scanning, or not legible will not be accepted.  All emailed documents must be received no later than the deadline date for each Term.  Please email to Mrs. Angie Pratt, pratt@aerhq.org.

Defense Activities Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES):  The DANTES program consists of three parts: DANTES External Degree Catalog, DANTES Independent Study Catalog and Nationally Accredited Distance Learning ProgramsThese catalogs are located on the Web at, http://www.dantes.doded.mil.  After entering the WebSite click on “Distance Learning Programs”, then click on “DANTES Catalogs”.  You will see a list of three catalogs. The schools that we accept are in these catalogs. Spouses may be enrolled in DANTES courses at any time during the academic year. AER will consider assistance for only one course at a time.  The spouse must successfully complete the course. Spouses should apply for assistance prior to enrollment. If approved, payment will be made directly to the student upon receipt of verification of payment and enrollment. If the student successfully completes the course, subsequent courses will be paid in the same manner. If not, the spouse will be paid upon successful completion of the subsequent course. In either case, the spouse must apply for assistance prior to commencing studies.
