Manual.
2. The 2008 Army
Emergency Relief Fund Campaign will begin in
less a month. In preparation for this
critical event, a lot of individuals have
been working hard at the AER HQ and Local
levels to ensure success. The purpose of
this e-mail is to update on the currents
status of campaign issues and thank you for
your continued hard work.
3. Campaign update
notes:
-
Early next week the
Director will be sending a letter to
Installation and Garrison Commanders
announcing the Campaign and soliciting
their personal support in making it a
success. This letter will also include
the following attachments: Copy of
Annual Campaign Letter signed by the
Secretary, Chief of Staff, and Sergeant
Major of the Army, an AER Press Campaign
Press Release, and AER Campaign
Questions and Answers. Copies of these
attachments are provided with this
e-mail.
-
The AER Press
Campaign Press Release, and AER Campaign
Questions and Answers replace last
year’s Fact Sheets. The press release
is a generic Army wide release with fill
in the blank areas to modify it for your
local area. You should update the
release with local AER data and submit
it to your local PAO for publication in
your Post Newspaper or other command
information channels.
-
The Campaign
Coordinator’s Guide “KEYS TO SUCCESS”
was updated in October 2008 and copies
distributed with Campaign posters and
Pocket Guides (tri-folds). The booklet
is also available on the web.
-
Remember that all
contributions received and deposited in
the AER central bank account from March
1st to May 15th by
your sections are categorized as
Campaign Funds. This includes
unsolicited contributions, special
gifts, memorials, and proceeds from
special fund raising campaigns that may
or may not have been designated as of
the local campaign.
-
For those sections
participating in the Retiree Outreach
phase of the Campaign we are on track
for the contractor to begin mailing
letters right after March 1, 2008.
Additional guidance on processing
Retiree response forms will be published
shortly.
-
Remember it is
important for a number of reasons to
process your contribution receipts in a
timely manner. Processing contributions
as they are received not only helps you
mange your workload and avoid having to
input and deposit everything at the end
of the campaign; it also helps reduce
the risk of loss due to any number of
reasons.
-
Campaign Kickoff
speakers - we are working on final
arrangements with those installations
that have requested a speaker from AER
to support their kickoff events on an
individual basis.
4. Thank you again for
all your hard efforts in making AER and this
upcoming Campaign a success. These efforts
help us better take care of Soldiers and
their Families. Should you have any
questions or need advice please feel free to
